MEET RESULTS

Midwest Conference Championships at Grinnell College (February 9-11, 2001)
The Lawrence men's and women's teams both placed third. Lake Forest won the men's title with 531 points, and the Vikings had 441. Grinnell took the women's crown with 648 points and Lawrence had 312.5.

Daniel Hurley, who was named MWC Swimmer of the Year, led the Lawrence men by taking first in the 200 butterfly in 1:59.21, winning the 400 individual medley in 4:14.73, and taking first in the 500 freestyle in 4:46.27.

Tom Carroll was second in the 1,650 freestyle in 17:10.99 and was third in the 200 freestyle in 1:47.65. Steve Wolfe grabbed third in the 100 freestyle in 49.10 and was third in the 50 freestyle in 22.21 seconds. Ken Leising took third in the 3-meter diving with 234.80 points.

The men's 400 freestyle relay team of Hurley, Wolfe, Carroll, and Chris Worman won in 3:17.28. The men's 800 freestyle relay team of Hurley, Wolfe, Carroll, and Paul Schook was second in 7:13.58.

Jodie Primus and Lisa Nickel paced the women's team. Primus was second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:31.61 and third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.76. Nickel placed second in the 200 backstroke in 2:19.02 and second in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.81.

Lawrence swimmers took fourth and fifth in the 100 freestyle. Alison Van Dyken was fourth in 55.96 and Sylvia Zwissler was fifth in 56.58. Zwissler also placed third in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.73.

The women's 400 freestyle relay team of Van Dyken, Primus, Zwissler, and Courtney Lind were third in 3:47.73. The women's 800 freestyle relay team of Primus, Van Dyken, Zwissler, and Tiffany Pannier was third in 8:30.32.

Wisconsin Private College Championships at Lawrence University (January 27, 2001)
The Lawrence women won the team title with 198.5 points. Lawrence's Jodie Primus, Jess Steward, Sylvia Zwissler, Alison Van Dyken, Tiffany Pannier, and Angie Utschig all made the All-State Team. Carthage finished second with 147 points.

The Carthage men won the championship with 208 points, and Lawrence came in second at 194. Earning All-State Team honors for the Lawrence men were Daniel Hurley, Greg Woodford, Steve Wolfe, Paul Schook, and Mike Rogosheske.

Hurley won the 200 IM in 2:04.48, 200 butterfly in 2:03.00, and 400 IM in 4:28.39. Tom Carroll won the 1650 freestyle in 17:49.97. Greg Woodford finished fourth in 200 IM, fourth in 100 backstroke, and second in 200 backstroke. Wolf finished second in 200 freestyle in 1:53.17 and fifth in 50 freestyle in 23.80. Schook placed fourth in 200 backstroke in 2:17.88 and second in 500 freestyle in 5:10.88.

On the women's side Alison Van Dyken won the 100 freestyle in 57.34 and placed second in the 50 freestyle in 26.28. Tiffany Pannier was Lawrence's other winner in the 400 IM with a time of 5:01.53. She also finished second in the 200 freestyle in 2:08.31 and third in the 200 freestyle in 2:30.98. Jodie Primus took second in three events. She finished the 200 IM in 2:20.23, 200 breaststroke in 2:34.01, and the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.13. Jess Steward also put in a solid performance, finishing second in the 200 backstroke in 2:22.06 and second in the 100 backstroke in 1:06.84. The women's 400 freestlye relay team also took first in 3:54.81.

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Lawrence University (January 24, 2001)
The Lawrence women defeated Whitewater 144-93, and the Lawrence men and Whitewater tied with 116.5 points apiece.

Placing first for the women were Sylvia Zwissler in the 200 freestyle, Jennifer Hovland in 50 freestyle, Becky Hopkins in 1,000 freestyle, Tiffany Pannier in the 200 IM, Alyson Van Dyken in the 100 freestyle, and Jodie Primus in the 100 breaststroke. Angie Utschig also won the 3-meter diving.

Winners for the men included Steve Wolfe in the 200 freestyle, Mike Rogosheske in the 50 freestyle, Daniel Hurley in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, and Tom Carroll in the 100 backstroke.

University of California-Irvine Invitational (January 6, 2001)
The Lawrence men placed seventh and the women took eighth.

Daniel Hurley led Lawrence by placing second in the 200 butterfly and fifth in the 500 freestyle. Tom Carroll was fifth in the 1,650 freestyle11th in the 500 freestyle, and 15th in the 200 freestyle.

The women were paced by Alison Van Dyken, who took fourth in the 50 freestyle, 11th in the 100 freestyle, and 15th in the 200 freestyle. Jodie Primus was seventh in the 200 breaststroke, eighth in the 100 breaststroke, and 16th in the 500 freestyle. Tiffany Panier was eighth in the 400 IM, 13th in the 200 IM, and 13th in the 200 butterfly. Lisa Nickel grabbed seventh in the 100 backstroke.

University of California-Irvine Invitational (January 6, 2001)
Jodie Primus had a pair of top-ten finishes against the Division I competition to pace the Lawrence women. Primus was second in the 100 backstroke and took tenth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:34.20.

Daniel Hurley had the highest finish for the Viking men. Hurley placed 15th in the 200 butterfly in 2:04.98. Greg Woodford, Paul Schook, and Justin Fleshman also had top-20 finishes. The trio took 18th, 19th, and 20th, respectively, in the 200 backstroke.

Gene Davis Invitational (December 1-2, 2000)
The Lawrence women won the invitational title with 770.5 points, beating second-place Macalester, which finished with 732.

Lawrence's Lisa Nickel won the 200 backstroke in 2:22.21 and the 100 backstroke in 1:04.89. Jodie Primus swam to victory in the 400 IM in 4:58.33. Lawrence also had three winning relay teams. The 800 freestyle relay team took first in 8:35.31, the 200 freestyle relay won in 1:49.22, and the 400 freestyle relay was a winner in 3:52.84.

The Viking men placed second with 690 points, and Luther took the title with 954. Daniel Hurley won three events for Lawrence. He took the 400 IM in 4:26.70, the 500 freestyle in 4:59.78, and the 200 butterfly in 2:03.38.

University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, St. Norbert College women at Lawrence University (November 15, 2000)
The Lawrence men defeated University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh 122-115. Sean Kilgore, Michael Yakes, Rob Westerholm, and Mike Swanson won the 200 relay medley in 1:51.11. Kilgore also won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.38. Daniel Hurley won the 200 freestyle in 1:52.45. Tom Carroll took first place in the 500 freestyle in 5:21.46, and won the 1000 freestyle in 11:02.93.

Men's season dual record: 1-2

University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh women won the meet with 127 points. The Lawrence women finished in second place with 96 points. The St. Norbert College women finished with 16 points. Jodie Primus won the 1,000 freestyle in 11:33.74 and the 200 IM in 2:20.48. Sylvia Zwissler won the 200 freestyle in 2:05.16 and the 500 freestyle in 5:42.27. Lisa Nickel won the 100 backstroke in 1:04.57.

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at Lawrence University (November 11, 2000)
The Eagles defeated the Lawrence men 139-74. Daniel Hurley won the 200 IM in 2:05.98, and won the 100 fly in 56.79. Hurley also placed first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:01.50. Rob Westerholm won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.04.

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse beat the Lawrence women 151-90. Tiffany Pannier won the 100 fly in 1:08.84. Alison VanDyken won the 100 freestyle in 58.41. Jodie Primus took first place in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:12.69.

Lawrence University at Lake Forest College (November 4, 2000)
The Foresters defeated the Lawrence men 127-92. Daniel Hurley won the 200 freestyle in 2:05.22 and won the 100 fly in 1:03.16. Hurley also won 400 freestyle with a time of 4:29.52.

Lake Forest beat the Lawrence women 130-101. Jennifer Harland won the 50 freestyle in 29.69. Alison VanDyken won the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:05.22. Jodie Primus won the 100 breaststroke in 1:21.63. Jess Steward and Sylvia Zwissler combined with VanDyken and Primus to win the 200 freestyle relay in 1:59.63.
