Chris Braier led Lawrence University to a 3-0 record over the holiday break to push the Vikings' record to 7-1 on the season.
A 6-foot-5 freshman forward from Wauwatosa, Braier averaged 18.7 points and 7.3 rebounds in the three games while shooting 58.6 percent (17-29) from the floor and 90.9 percent (20-22) from the free-throw line, all while playing just 20.7 minutes per game.
The former Wauwatosa East High School star scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Lawrence's 82-53 pasting of Viterbo University on Dec. 18. He then scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 120-89 blowout win at the University of Redlands on Dec. 29. Braier wrapped up Lawrence's trip to California with 11 points and four rebounds in an 81-64 romp at La Sierra University on Jan. 3.
For the season, Braier leads the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game and rebounding at 8.9 per contest.
Ric Scannell
Wrestling
Ric Scannell turned in a standout performance during Lawrence University's holiday trip to Florida.
A junior from De Pere, Scannell posted a 7-2 record on the trip to pace the Vikings. He led Lawrence by going 3-2 at the Citrus Open and taking fourth place at 157 pounds. The former standout at De Pere High School also posted a perfect 4-0 record during Lawrence's dual meets in Florida.
For the season, Scannell leads the team with a 19-4 record.
