Anthony Kouba led Lawrence University to a split of a Midwest Conference doubleheader with Carroll College and earned MWC Player of the Week honors. The Roselle, Ill., native went 2-for-2 in the first game, a 6-2 Lawrence win, with two runs scored and three runs batted in. In the nightcap, an 8-6 Carroll win in 12 innings, he went 3-for-5 with a run scored. For the two games, Kouba was 5-for-7 with two doubles, three RBIs, a 1.000 slugging percentage, a .778 on-base percentage, and handled seven chances in the field without an error, and that included a superb catch near the right-field fence.
Shelley Ebert
Track and Field
Shelley Ebert won the 800 meters last Saturday at the Elmhurst College Invitational, shattering her own school record in the process. Ebert, a Janesville native, won the event in 2 minutes, 14.30 seconds, breaking her own record of 2:17.45. Ebert also earned provisional qualifying status for the NCAA Division III Championships and currently has the ninth-fastest time in the nation. The former Janesville Craig High School star was named the Midwest Conference women's track Performer of the Week.
Kolade Agbaje-Williams
Track and Field
Lawrence University track standout Kolade Agbaje-Williams placed in three events at last Saturday's Elmhurst College Invitational and was named a Midwest Conference Track and Field Performer of the Week. Agbaje-Williams, a freshman from Evergreen Park, Ill., placed second in the long jump and took third in the triple jump at Elmhurst. He jumped 23 feet, one-half inch, in the long jump and leaped 45-7.25 in the triple jump. He also ran to a seventh-place finish in the 400 meters in 52.25 seconds.
