Track and Field
Courtney Miller ran to a pair of top finishes for Lawrence University at the Elmhurst College Invitational this past Saturday and was named the Midwest Conference Track Performer of the Week. Miller grabbed second in the 3,000 meters in a time of 10 minutes, 41.30 seconds. The Rochester, N.Y., native also placed fourth in the 1,500 in 4:49.18. Both times lead all Midwest Conference athletes by a wide margin.
Aaron Sorenson
Baseball
Aaron Sorenson posted a 1-1 record on the week for Lawrence University despite allowing only eight hits in two complete games. The sophomore pitcher from Sheboygan dropped a 2-1 decision to Ripon despite allowing only four hits while striking out three and walking none. He came back to earn a 2-1 victory over Lakeland. Again he allowed four hits, and struck out eight and walked one in going the distance. For the week, Sorenson posted a 2.08 earned run average, and the opposition hit a paltry .170 against him.
Kolade Agbaje-Williams
Track and Field
Kolade Agbaje-Williams earned a return trip to the NCAA Division III Championships after his performance at the Elmhurst College Invitational this past Saturday. A sophomore from Evergreen Park, Ill., Agbaje-Williams took second in the long jump at Elmhurst College Invitational with a leap of 23 feet, 1.25 inches. That jump is the sixth-longest in the nation and gives Agbaje-Williams a provisional qualifying spot for the NCAA Championships. He was an All-American both indoors and outdoors in the long jump in 2003.
