Freshman Josh Richie fired a five-hit shutout on Sunday in Lawrence University's 2-0 win over Beloit College at Whiting Field. The big right-hander from Ellsworth struck out a career-high 11 and walked four in going the distance for his first career shutout. He allowed only three runners to reach as far as third base. The win improved Richie's record to 2-1 on the season and lowered his earned run average to 3.62.
Colleen Detjens
Track and Field
Colleen Detjens placed in two events to lead Lawrence University at the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Saturday at Carthage College. The freshman from Lisle, Ill., placed third in the 1,500 meters and took sixth in the 800. She ran her best times of the season in both events. Detjens finished in 5 minutes, 10.23 seconds, in the 1,500 and had a time of 2:30.79 in the 800.
