Lawrence football team

The Lawrence University football team gets the honor this week after posting a 21-20 win at Knox College this past Saturday. Several players deserve a special mention for their roles in the victory. Justin Berrens ran 16 times for 149 yards and a touchdown despite playing only one play in the second half after injuring his knee. Adrell Bullock and A.J. Walker stepped in for Berrens in the second half to keep the Lawrence offense moving. Andy Kampo turned the game's biggest play when he blocked a Knox punt early in the fourth quarter. Punting out of his end zone, the Prairie Fire punter bobbled the snap and Kampo got a hand on the punt. Jacques Hacquebord scooped up the ball at the Knox 10-yard line and ran it to the 2-yard line to set up Bullock's touchdown run that tied the game at 20-20. Kicker Kevin Fitzsimmons then converted the extra point and the Vikings were ahead for good. Fitzsimmons, who joined the team three weeks ago, made all three of the PATs, and that was the difference. Hacquebord then preserved the victory when he intercepted a pass at his own 10-yard line on the game's final play.
