Wrestling

Nick Morphew got his wrestling season off to a perfect start this past weekend. The senior from Prophetstown, Ill., went 4-0 this past Friday and Saturday. The 133-pounder started his weekend with a 13-5 pasting of Jared Misner of the University of Minnesota-Morris in a dual meet. Lawrence went on to beat the Cougars 40-7. Morphew then won the title at the Lawrence Invitational by posting a 3-0 record on the day. Morphew beat Tim Schuldes of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville 11-3 in the quarterfinals, defeated Aaron Gudeyon of the Milwaukee School of Engineering 3-0 in the semifinals, and edged Jamie Compean of Minnesota-Morris 4-3 in the championship match.

Meggin Brittain
Women's Swimming

Meggin Brittain led the Vikings at this past weekendÕs Gene Davis Invitational. Brittain swam to a pair of third-place finishes to help the Vikings take fifth place in the team standings. The freshman from Green Bay took third in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:16.84 and grabbed third in the 200 individual medley in 2:20.00. For her efforts, Brittain was chosen as the Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Week.
