For the week ending December 13, 2003
Andrew Isaac
Hockey
Andrew Isaac, a freshman goaltender from Mississauga, Ontario, led the Lawrence University hockey team to its first shutout in more than five years last Friday. Isaac stopped 35 shots last Friday in Lawrence's 1-0 victory over Marian College, which had been unbeaten (6-0) in conference play to that point. Isaac, who attended St. Michael's College School, made several big saves, including the final one with four seconds left that preserved the shutout. It marked the first shutout for Lawrence since a 14-0 win over Illinois Benedictine on Nov. 21, 1998, a stretch of 93 games. For the week, Isaac was 1-1 with a .928 save percentage and a 2.50 goals against average, and he was named the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week. On the season, he is 2-5 with an .895 save percentage and a 4.21 goals against average.
Ben Dictus
Wrestling
Ben Dictus was one of three Lawrence University wrestlers to record victories last Saturday against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Dictus, a Kimberly native, won a hard-fought bout at 184 pounds with an 8-6 victory over Ned Lease. The win improved Dictus' record on the season to 7-3.
