For the week ending January 8, 2005
Chris Braier
Men's Basketball
Chris Braier set the school's career rebounding record and helped the Lawrence University men's basketball team to its first Midwest Conference victory of the season, a 68-63 triumph at Beloit College on Jan. 8. Braier, a junior from Wauwatosa, entered the game with 730 rebounds, one shy of the mark of 731, set by Brad Childs from 1966-69. Braier pulled down 12 rebounds and has 742 for his career. He is on pace to become the first player in Lawrence history to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. Braier, who finished with 12 points, also hit two key jumpers in the final 2:24 to give Lawrence a three-point lead and control of the game.
Sam Heinritz
Women's Swimming
Sam Heinritz won both diving events at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Triangular on Jan. 8. A freshman from Appleton, Heinritz won the 1-meter event with a score of 232.55 and took the 3-meter diving with a score of 205.05. She also was named the Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Week. Paced by her two victories, she helped the Vikings split the dual meets. Lawrence defeated UW-Oshkosh 67-46 and lost to Carthage College 66-45.
