Colleen Detjens led the Lawrence University women's track team to a seventh-place finish among the 17 team at last Saturday's Elmhurst College Invitational. Detjens, a sophomore from Lisle, Ill., won one event and placed in another. The former star at Lisle High School took first in the 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 53.13 seconds, and took fifth in the 800 in 2:26.94. Detjens' time in the 1,500 is the third-best effort in the Midwest Conference thus far this season.

Softball
Lawrence University pitcher Lauren Kost powered the Vikings to a 4-0 record this past week.Kost, a senior from Carol Stream, Ill., picked up all four of Lawrence's victories and was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week. The former standout at Glenbard North High School started her week by throwing all 19 innings of Lawrence's doubleheader sweep at Ripon College on April 13. She went 11 innings in Lawrence's 3-2 victory over the Red Hawks in the opener, allowing six hits while striking out two and walking two. She came back to pitch eight innings in Lawrence's 4-3 win in the nightcap, allowing only two hits and one earned run while striking out six and walking four. Kost then fired a one-hit shutout in Lawrence's 3-0 win over Finlandia University this past Saturday while striking out three and walking one. In the nightcap, she came on in relief with just one out in the first inning and went the final 6 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run in Lawrence's 5-4 victory. For the week, Kost threw 32 2/3 of Lawrence's 33 innings, was 4-0 and posted a 0.64 earned run average. She allowed only 12 hits while the opposition batted .115 against her.
