For the week ending October 30, 2004
Pete Mossberg
Hockey
Pete Mossberg led the Lawrence University
hockey team to a pair of ties during the opening weekend of play for the 2004-05
season. Mossberg, a junior forward from Salt Lake City, Utah, won Midwest
Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Week honors after picking up five
points in the two games. Mossberg had a goal and three assists in a 7-7 tie
at the College of St. Scholastica and added another assist in a 3-3 tie at
the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Mossberg, who attended Utah Valley High
School and played for the Utah Valley Golden Eagles before coming to Lawrence,
led the team in assists and points last season.
Cate Frazier
Cross Country
Cate Frazier led the Lawrence University women's
cross country team to a second-place finish at the Midwest Conference Championships
this past weekend. Frazier covered the 5,000-meter course in brutal weather
conditions at High Cliff State Park in 19 minutes, 49.63 seconds, to finish
third overall. Led by her effort, the Vikings finished with 72 points, and
Grinnell College won the title with 44. Frazier's finish placed her on the
all-conference team, where she was joined by teammates Colleen Detjens (10th
place), Rachel Lucas (15th), and Kelly Scheer (19th.).
