Mike Burkhart led the Lawrence University hockey team to a 6-0 pasting of the Toronto Rattlers this past Sunday at the Appleton Family Ice Center. Burkhart recorded a hat track and added an assist in the exhibition victory over the traveling team made up of college and high school-age players. The senior forward from McKinney, Texas, scored the game's first goal at 11:10 of the first period. After Gharrity McNett made it 2-0 just over a minute later, Burkhart scored again to give Lawrence a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period. Burkhart got his hat trick when he scored at 11:44 of the third period to complete the scoring for the Vikings.

Steve Vander Naalt
Swimming

Steve Vander Naalt won a pair of events for the Lawrence University men's swim team in a triangular meet at Lake Forest College this past Friday. Vander Naalt, a junior from Carol Stream, Ill., won the 200-meter individual medley in 2:24.17 and took the 100 backstroke in 1:05.71. Led by Vander Naalt, the Vikings defeated Lake Forest 72-33 and downed Monmouth College 85-19. Earlier in the week, Vander Naalt swam on the three winning relays at the Lawrence Relays. Vander Naalt was a winner in the 200-yard medley relay, the 300 breaststroke relay, and the 400 medley relay. Lawrence downed the three other schools in the meet, which was scored as a series of dual meets. The Vikings beat Beloit College 37-13, topped Carroll College 37-10, and beat Ripon College 39-0.
