Lawrence University womenís basketball standout Felice Porrata has led the Vikings to a 3-0 record this season. The senior forward from Glenview, Ill., was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week and chosen as Midwest Conference Player of the Week. For the opening three games, Porrata averaged 18.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 5.3 steals per game. Porrata was chosen for her play at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Tip-Off Classic on Nov. 19-20. She helped lead the Vikings to the championship with a victory over fourth-ranked UW-Stevens Point. Porrata scored 18 points, grabbed three rebounds, recorded nine steals, and had one assist in Lawrenceís 79-52 win over Dominican (Ill.) University in the Nov. 19 semifinal. Facing the fourth-ranked Pointers, Porrata had 20 points, five rebounds, two steals, and two assists the following day. Porrata, who played her prep basketball at New Trier High School, scored the final five points of the game for Lawrence to seal the victory. Lawrence followed up that win with a 70-50 win over Marian on Nov. 23. Porrata scored 18 points, grabbed two rebounds, had four assists, and added five steals against Marian. The victory over Stevens Point marks the highest-ranked opponent Lawrence has ever beaten, and this is the Vikingsí first 3-0 start since the 1996-97 season.
