Tatiana Bulat
Women's Track and Field
Tatiana Bulat, a freshman from Madison, won one event and placed in three others at the Elmhurst College Invitational. Bulat won the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 8 inches, and that is only two inches shy of being the top performance in the conference. Bulat, who was named the Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week, also took third in the long jump with a leap of 16-0.25 and grabbed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 62-11. She also placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.48 and helped Lawrence to second in the team standings.
Joe Loehnis
Golf
Joe Loehnis fired rounds of 72 and 77 for a one-shot victory at the Ripon College Invitational. The senior from Appleton posted a five-over par score of 149 to edge Carthage College's Steve Gillie. He carded an even par 72 on the Woodlands Course at Lawsonia and then posted a 77 on the tournament's second day on the Links Course. Led by Loehnis, the Vikings finished second in the team standings in the 10-team event.
Joy Manweiler
Women's Track and Field
Joy Manweiler won one event and placed in another at the Elmhurst College Invitational. A Princeton native, Manweiler won the 3,000 meters in 11 minutes, 19.30 seconds, and now holds the best time in that event in the conference this season. Manweiler, a sophomore who was named the Midwest Conference Track Performer of the Week, also placed eighth in the 1,500 meters in 5:11.79 and helped Lawrence to second in the team standings.
Catherine Marinac
Softball
Pitcher Catherine Marinac posted a 2-0 record last week and was named the Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week. A sophomore from St. Paul, Minn., Marinac had a 1.00 ERA in 14 innings. She struck out four and walked six, while holding opposing hitters to a .224 batting average. Marinac picked up her second shutout of the season and led Lawrence to its first win over the University of Chicago since 1985 with a 3-0 victory. She went the distance against Chicago, scattering six hits and striking out two. Marinac allowed five hits and struck out three in a 3-2 complete-game win over Carroll College earlier in the week.
