Women's Tennis
Susan Klumpner posted a 3-0 record on the week in both singles and doubles for the Vikings. Playing at No. 1 singles, up a position from her normal No. 2 spot, Klumpner battled through illness to beat Catherine Thornburg of UW-Stevens Point 7-5, 4-6, 10-5 in Lawrence's 7-2 victory. The sophomore from Downer's Grove, Ill., teamed with Serene Sahar for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. A former standout at Downers Grove South High School, Klumpner followed that with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles over Carroll College's Hana Poser in another 7-2 Lawrence victory. Klumpner and Sahar posted an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles in that match. She finished her week with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles over Jamie Lichon of Ripon College in the Vikings' 9-0 victory at Ripon. Klumpner and Sahar won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles at Ripon. On the season, Klumpner is 6-0 in both singles and doubles. Lawrence is now 7-0 on the season, including a 2-0 mark in conference play.
Ryan Pikna
Men's Soccer
Ryan Pikna scored two goals and added an assist in Lawrence's two games this past week. The sophomore midfielder from Wauwatosa scored twice, once in the 23rd minute and again in the 73rd minute, to lead Lawrence to a 5-3 win over Marian College. The former standout at Wauwatosa West High School also picked up an assist in Lawrence's 5-2 loss to Edgewood College. Pikna is Lawrence's leading scorer on the season with three goals and seven points.
