Klas Berghede
Men's Soccer

Lawrence University menís soccer standout Klas Berghede led the Vikings to a 3-0 record this past week. Berghede, a junior from Gothenburg, Sweden, also was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week. He scored four goals, including a pair of game-winning goals, as Lawrence moved to 5-3-1 overall and 4-0-0 in Midwest Conference play. Berghede scored twice in Lawrenceís 4-0 win over Ripon College last Tuesday. He picked up the first goal in the 35th minute and then added an insurance goal in the 86th minute. Berghede scored Lawrenceís second goal, which proved to the game-winner, in a 2-1 win over Grinnell on Saturday. Berghede then scored Lawrenceís second goal in a 2-0 win over Knox on Sunday. Those were the first four goals of the season for Berghede, who comes off the bench for the Vikings.

Lisa Ritland
Women's Tennis

Lawrence Universityís Lisa Ritland went 6-0 on the week and was named the Midwest Conference womenís tennis Player of the Week. Ritland, a freshman from Lodi, posted a 3-0 record in both singles and doubles. Led by Ritland, Lawrence won three dual matches and pushed its record to 11-1 on the season. Playing No. 1 doubles, Ritland teamed with Loni Philbrick-Linzmeyer to beat a team from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh 8-6. They followed that with an 8-4 win over Lake Forest College, and completed the week with an 8-3 win over the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Ritland, a former standout at Lodi High School, played No. 4 singles against UW-Oshkosh and defeated Jenna Abbott 6-3, 1-6, 11-9. She trailed 9-5 in the tiebreaker but reeled off six straight points for the win. Ritland defeated Lake Forestís Anastasia Rudkovskaya 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, and then defeated MSOEís Joy Cirrilli 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. Ritland improved her record on the season to 10-2 in both singles and doubles.
