Colleen Detjens
Cross Country
Colleen Detjens led Lawrence University to a third-place finish at the Ripon College Invitational. Detjens, who finished fifth overall, also was named the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week. The junior from Lisle, Ill., completed the 5,000-meter course in 20 minutes, 20 seconds. The former standout at Lisle High School finished first among all Midwest Conference competitors at the event and posted her best finish of the season.
Susan Klumpner
Women's Tennis
Susan Klumpner posted a 5-1 record on the week, as Lawrence University went 2-1 in dual matches and earned its first-ever berth in the Midwest Conference Team Championships. Klumpner started her week with an 8-0 win at No. 2 singles over Lakeland College's Lisa Hentges as part of Lawrence's 6-3 win over the Muskies. She teamed with Serene Sahar for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Klumper, a native of Downers Grove, Ill., split her matches in a loss to St. Norbert College. She and Sahar won an 8-6 decision at No. 2 doubles, but Klumpner lost her No. 2 singles match in three sets. Klumpner, who is 11-2 in singles and 12-1 in doubles, finished the week with two wins over Beloit College. Klumpner and Sahar won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles, and the former star at Downers Grove South High School won in straight sets over Sally Fairfield at No. 2 singles. The 7-2 win over Beloit gave Lawrence a berth in the four-team MWC Team Championship.
