Lawrence University standout Chris Braier became the first player in school history to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds. The Wauwatosa native passed the 1,000-rebound plateau in the Vikings' 71-60 win at Knox last Saturday and now has 1,001 for his career. Braier also moved into sixth place on the career scoring list with 1,245 points. Braier also is the first player in Midwest Conference history with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Braier had 20 points and six rebounds in the win against Knox. He picked up his second double-double of the season last Friday when he scored 13 points and grabbed 18 rebounds in an 82-57 win at Illinois College. Braier started the week on Nov. 29 with eight points and eight rebounds in the Vikings' 75-66 win at Wisconsin Lutheran.
Claire Getzoff
Women's Basketball
Claire Getzoff led Lawrence University to a 3-0 record on the week and broke the school's career scoring record in the process. The Evanston, Ill., native now has 1,253 points, breaking the mark of 1,225 set by Sarah O'Neil, and was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week. In the three games, Getzoff averaged 24.7 points while shooting 52.8 percent (28-53) from the floor, including 55 percent (11-20) on 3-pointers. She also averaged 5.3 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 steals in the three games. In a nonconference game against Marian College, Getzoff poured in a career-high 30 points to go along with eight assists, six rebounds and five steals in Lawrence's 82-74 victory. She tied her career high with 30 points in a 67-65 win at Illinois College. She also picked up five rebounds, three assists and three steals against the Lady Blues. Getzoff finished her week with 14 points, five assists, four rebounds, and four steals in a 62-53 win at Knox College.
