Ryan Kroeger
Men's Basketball
Ryan Kroeger, a sophomore guard from Glendale, Wis., sparked Lawrence to a pair of big this past week with his hot shooting and was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week. Kroeger scored 21 points in Lawrence's 72-57 win over Ripon on Feb. 7. He hit 7 of 11 shots from the floor, including 3 of 6 on 3-pointers, to go along with one rebound, three assists and two steals. In a 74-62 win at Beloit on Feb. 10, Kroeger scored 18 points and hit 6 of 10 shots from the field, including 4 of 6 from beyond the 3-point line. He chipped in with two rebounds, four assists and a steal. For the week, he hit 13 of 21 shots (61.9 percent) from the floor, including 7 of 12 (58.3 percent) from 3-point range. On the season, Kroeger is averaging 15.8 points per game while shooting 49.5 percent from the field, including 42.6 percent on 3-pointers.
Tony Norton
Wrestling
Tony Norton went 3-0 on the week to push his winning streak to six matches. The Carol Stream, Ill., native picked up his first pin of the season when he stuck UW-Oshkosh's John Dangles in 2:27 in a dual meet on Feb. 9. Norton then went 2-0 on Feb. 10 to win the title at 149 pounds at the Northern Wrestling Association Tournament at Lakeland. Norton defeated Knox's Josh Franklin 4-0 in the semifinals and then pinned Lakeland's Jake Frias in 4:55 in the championship match. Norton improved his record to 13-12 on the season.
Hayley Vatch
Women's Swimming
Hayley Vatch, a sophomore from Elmhurst, Ill., captured a pair of individual titles at the Midwest Conference Championships at Grinnell Feb. 9-11. She won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:18.57 and she captured the 1,650 freestyle in 18:20.38. Vatch also grabbed third in the 200 freestyle in 2:02.58. Led by Vatch's efforts, Lawrence finished second in the team standings.
