Toren Johnson helped the Vikings to a 7-3 record at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Fla. Johnson batted .441 with a double, two triples, and 13 runs batted in. The senior from Stoughton, Wis., went 3-for-4 with four RBIs in Lawrence's 17-9 win over D'Youville and had at least two hits in five of the 10 games. Johnson, who played both center field and second base during the week, also posted a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Kevin Kangas
Baseball
Although Kevin Kangas did not earn a victory in his two appearances in North Carolina, he was impressive on the mound. The senior from Chassell, Mich., started two games on Lawrence's Southern trip and posted a 1.50 ERA. He allowed only four hits in each game, 1-0 losses to Endicott and Averett. Against Endicott, Kangas struck out 13, tying the school record set by Chris Isley in 1965. For the week, he struck out 19 and walked three.
