Men's Soccer

Chris Carlson was the stopper in the middle of the Lawrence defense during the Luther College Invitational this past weekend. The sophomore defender from Cedarburg, Wis., helped the Vikings to a 2-0 record and the tournament title, as the Vikings posted a pair of shutouts. Carlson was named the Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week. In Lawrence's 2-0 win over Luther, Lawrence limited the Norse to only three shots on goal and six shots total. In a 2-0 win over St. Scholastica, Lawrence again limited the opposition to only six shots, including two shots on goal. The defense, spearheaded by Carlson, has not allowed a goal in three games this season.

Susan Klumpner
Women's Tennis

Susan Klumpner was unbeaten on the week in both singles and doubles, as the Vikings won all three matches they played. Playing No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles, the junior from Downers Grove, Ill., was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week. Klumpner started her week with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Joy Cirilli of the Milwaukee School of Engineering. She teamed with doubles partner Hanah McCarthy to beat Cirilli and Amanda Endres 8-1, and the Vikings went on to defeat MSOE 9-0. In a 7-2 win at Edgewood, Klumpner beat Chelsea Van Hefty 6-3, 6-1 in singles and teamed with McCarthy to beat Van Hefty and Hannah Pincsak 8-2. In a 5-4 win over UW-River Falls on Saturday, Klumpner beat Becky Briese 6-4, 6-2 in singles and teamed with McCarthy for an 8-3 win over Briese and Katie Ostrowski in doubles. Klumpner is now 4-1 in singles and 4-1 in doubles.
