Kelly Mulcahy
Women's Basketball
Kelly Mulcahy, seeing her first significant action since returning from injury, averaged 16.3 points and 8.7 rebounds in three games. The senior from Glendale, Wis., had 22 points and grabbed six rebounds in a win over Knox on Jan. 19. Mulcahy had her second double-double of the season with 23 points and 15 rebounds, her career high, against Grinnell on Jan. 18. She started her week with four points and five rebounds in a loss at Beloit on Jan. 15.
Mike Pierquet
Men's Track
Mike Pierquet broke his own school record in the weight throw at the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Jan. 19 at Carthage College. The senior from Green Bay, Wis., placed fifth in the event with a throw of 45-7.75, breaking the record of 43-3.75 he set in 2007. Pierquet also took 11th in the shot put with a throw of 41-5.75.
Caresse Reiland
Women's Basketball
Caresse Reiland put up some big numbers for Lawrence in three games. The sophomore from Wauwatosa, Wis., averaged 15.3 points and 9.7 rebounds and recorded her fourth and fifth double-doubles of the season. She scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a win over Knox on Jan. 19. She had four points and nine rebounds against Grinnell on Jan. 18. She started the week with a career-high 26 points and 10 rebounds in a loss at Beloit on Jan. 15.
Hayley Vatch
Women's Swimming
Hayley Vatch set a Lawrence record in the 1,650-yard freestyle on her way to winning that event at the University of Chicago Invitational on Jan. 18-19. Her winning time of 18:16.17 topped the Lawrence record of 18:18.60, set by Rachel Cohen in 1995. The junior from Elmhurst, Ill., also owns the top time in the league in that event by well over a minute. Vatch also set the fastest time in the league in the 500 freestyle on her way to finishing second in 5:23.68. She also took second in the 200 freestyle in 2:03.98, which is the third-fastest time in the conference.
