Andy Hurley
Men's Basketball

Andy Hurley led Lawrence to the title at the Midwest Conference Tournament and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament. The senior forward from Kimberly, Wis., scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to power the Vikings to a 59-58 victory over St. Norbert in the tournament semifinals on Feb. 29. Hurley then scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds in Lawrence's 98-95 overtime victory over Carroll in the championship game on March 1. He averaged 15.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while hitting 12 of 21 shots from the floor. He also had three blocks to increase his total to 27 on the season.

Nils Schaede
Fencing

Nils Schaede turned in a tremendous day at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on March 2. Schaede, a junior from Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, finished eighth in the sabre competition against a field made up of fencers from Division I scholarship schools. Schaede earned the status of alternate for the NCAA Championships.

Madeline Steininger
Women's Track and Field

Madeline Steininger won the high jump, placed in two other events, and was named one of the Outstanding Field Performers at the Midwest Conference Championships on Feb. 29-March 1. The sophomore from New Berlin, Wis., won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 3.75 inches. She also placed second in the long jump with a personal-best jump of 16-8.75. Steininger nearly broke the school record in the 55-meter hurdles preliminaries, and then raced to third place in the finals with a time of 9.01 seconds. She led the women to a seventh-place finish in the team standings with 32.5 points.
