Women's Tennis

Emma Kent went 5-1 on the week and helped Lawrence to its first victory of the season. The junior from Bellingham, Wash., won at No. 3 doubles and in straight sets at No. 5 singles in a 6-3 loss to Lake Forest on Sept. 5. She then split a pair of matches on Sept. 8 in a 7-2 loss to UW-River Falls, winning at No. 3 doubles before losing in three sets at No. 5 singles. Kent finished her week by winning at No. 2 doubles and in straight sets at No. 4 singles in a 7-2 victory over Marian, also on Sept. 8. On the season, she is 3-1 in both singles and doubles.

Joe Sluhoski
Men's Soccer

Joe Sluhoski sparked Lawrence's first victory of the season, with a pair of goals in a 5-1 victory over Lakeland on Sept. 9. The senior from Rochester, Minn., redirected a pass from Ryan Pikna past the Lakeland goalkeeper in the 26th minute to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead. He then took the ball from a Lakeland defender and scored again in the 32nd minute to cap an outburst of three goals in six minutes. Sluhoski leads the team with four goals and eight points.
