Eric Aspenson
Football

Eric Aspenson tossed a school-record five touchdown passes to lead Lawrence to a 50-21 rout of Knox on Oct. 13. The senior quarterback from Rockford, Ill., completed 14 of 21 passes for 308 yards and ran nine times for 47 yards. Aspenson, who averaged 22 yards per completion, completed touchdown passes of 73, 71, 42, 23, and 10 yards to break the record of four touchdown passes in a game he shared with five other players. Aspenson, who was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week, also became the first Lawrence quarterback to throw for more than 300 yards in a game since Chris McGinley did it vs. Ripon on Nov. 9, 2002.

Craig Ebert
Football

Craig Ebert turned in a great day running and catching the football in Lawrence's 50-21 win over Knox on Oct. 13. The junior running back/slotback from New London, Wis., had more than 100 yards rushing and receiving in the victory. Ebert ran the ball 10 times for 106 yards and had a 15-yard touchdown run. He caught three passes for 112 yards, including a 71-yard touchdown catch. He became the first Lawrence player to have 100 yards rushing and receiving in the same game since Aljay Wren did it against St. Norbert on Sept. 16, 2006.

Emma Kent
Women's Tennis

Emma Kent finished second in both singles and doubles at the Midwest Conference Championships on Oct. 13-14. A junior from Bellingham, Wash., Kent dropped only four games en route to winning two matches to reach the championship match at No. 6 singles. Grinnell's Jill Akiyama then defeated Kent 6-4, 6-1 for the title. At No. 3 doubles, Kent teamed with Emily Dalton, and the Lawrence duo won easily in the quarterfinals. Dalton and Kent then dropped St. Norbert in a three-set match before losing to Grinnell's Camila Alarcon and Margaret Block 6-1, 6-2 in the championship match.

Sam Laes
Football

Sam Laes picked up Midwest Conference and national honors for his efforts in Lawrence's 50-21 win over Knox on Oct. 13. The sophomore safety from Green Bay, Wis., recorded six tackles, including five solo, intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble, and recorded a pass breakup. He also scored his first collegiate touchdown on a fake punt. Laes was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and was named MWC Defensive Player of the Week. He recovered Brent Newman's fumble late in the first quarter at the Knox 23-yard line. Lawrence scored a touchdown three plays later to go up 20-0. Lawrence led 30-7 midway through the third quarter when Eric Aspenson threw to Laes for a first down on a fake punt. Laes cut across the field and broke several tackles to go 42 yards for his first college touchdown. On the ensuing Knox possession, Laes intercepted Knox quarterback George Nicholson at the Knox 45 and returned the ball to the Knox 10. Lawrence scored on the next play to go up 44-7.
