Football
Brian Janssen scored the second defensive touchdown of his career and piled up 10 tackles in Lawrence's 27-14 win over Carroll on Oct. 27. The sophomore linebacker from Ashwaubenon, Wis., picked off Carroll quarterback Dan Clay and returned the interception 45 yards for a touchdown to give Lawrence a 27-7 edge with 6:40 left in the third quarter. It was Janssen's first interception of the season, and he now has 63 tackles.
Joy Manweiler
Cross country
Joy Manweiler paced Lawrence at the Midwest Conference Championships in Jacksonville, Ill., on Oct. 27. The senior from Princeton, Wis., ran to a 20th-place finish in 20:14.46 on the 5,000-meter course and earned all-conference honors in the process. It marked the third consecutive season Manweiler has earned a spot on the all-conference team.
Derek Micke
Football
In just his second start at wide receiver, Derek Micke made nine catches for 177 yards and two touchdowns in Lawrence's 27-14 win over Carroll on Oct. 27. The junior from Kaukauna, Wis., took a short pass near the end of the first quarter and burst through the Carroll defense for a 61-yard touchdown that gave Lawrence a 14-7 lead. He also scored the game's next touchdown midway through the third quarter when he made a spectacular diving catch on a 30-yard pass. Micke's 177 receiving yards is the highest total in the league this season, and the highest total for a Lawrence player since Nick Korn had 171 at Monmouth on Oct. 15, 2005. In only three games since making the switch from cornerback to wide receiver, Micke has 17 catches for 343 yards and four touchdowns.
