Peter Brengel
Swimming
Peter Brengel was named the Swimmer of the Year at the Midwest Conference Championships on Feb. 13-15. A freshman from Milwaukee, Wis., Brengel set a Midwest Conference Championships and school record when he won the 100-yard backstroke in 52.13 seconds. Brengel also took the titles in the 200 backstroke and 100 freestyle. He swam to victory in the 200 backstroke in 2:01.24 and took first in the 100 freestyle in 48.62 seconds.
Nick Jennette
Hockey
Nick Jennette helped Lawrence to a split with Finlandia on Jan. 13-14, and he was named the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Week for the second time this season. The senior from Grand Rapids, Mich., picked up two goals and an assist on the weekend. Jennette scored an unassisted goal in the Feb. 13 3-2 loss to Finlandia and then picked up a goal and an assist in the Vikings' 2-1 victory on Feb. 14. Jennette finished plus-two for the weekend.
Hayley Vatch
Swimming
Hayley Vatch was named the Swimmer of the Year at the Midwest Conference Championships on Feb. 13-15. The senior from Elmhurst, Ill., broke eight records and won three individual titles. Vatch defended her title in the 500-yard freestyle and set, meet, pool, and school records with a time of 5:08.28. Vatch also set meet and school records when she won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.03. Vatch wrapped up the meet by defending her title in the 1,650 freestyle and breaking the meet, pool, and school records with a time of 17:45.10.
