Men's basketball
Chris Page turned in a monster performance to lead Lawrence to the Midwest Conference Tournament championship. The senior forward from Amherst, Wis., averaged 27 points and 13.5 rebounds in the two tournament games. Page scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Lawrence's 90-66 semifinal victory over Carroll on Feb. 27. Page then scored 27 points and pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds in Lawrence's 88-69 victory over Grinnell in the championship game. In the two games, Page shot 66.7 percent from the floor as he hit on 20 of 30 shots. Page also connected on all three of his 3-point attempts and went 11-for-14 from the foul line.
Madeline Steininger
Track and field
Madeline Steininger led Lawrence to a fifth-place finish at the Midwest Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 27-28. The junior from New Berlin, Wis., won the high jump for the second consecutive season and placed in two other events. Steininger had a winning jump of 5 feet, 1.25 inches. She also placed fourth in the long jump at 16-7.25 and fourth in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.17 seconds.
