Women's Tennis
The Lawrence women's tennis team went 2-1 for the week, including a big win over four-time defending Midwest Conference champion Grinnell. The Vikings beat Grinnell 5-4 on Sept. 14, handing the Pioneers their first loss to a conference opponent since 2003. It was Lawrence's first victory over Grinnell since 1995. Lawrence also handed UW-Stevens Point a 5-4 loss and nearly took down NCAA Division II opponent Lake Superior State, dropping a 5-4 decision to the Lakers.
Jon Mays
Golf
Jon Mays recorded his first career ace during the Lawrence Fall Classic on Sept. 12. The native of Bloomington, Minn., aced the third hole, a 170-yard par 3, where his shot bounced past the flag and spun back into the hole. Mays carded a score of 8-over par 80 to finish third in the tournament.
