Emma Kent
Women's Tennis
Lawrence's Emma Kent provided the winning point in a key match with St. Norbert and was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week. The senior from Bellingham, Wash., went 3-1 in both singles and doubles and won the deciding match in Lawrence's 5-4 victory over St. Norbert that kept the Vikings unbeaten in Midwest Conference North Division play. With the match tied 4-4 and darkness closing on the Lawrence Courts, Kent's No. 6 singles match was the only match left. After dropping the first set 6-1 to St. Norbert's Anna Reardon, Kent rallied to win 7-6 (7-5), 6-2, to give Lawrence a 5-4 victory. It was Lawrence's first win over St. Norbert since 1998, and put the Vikings in the driver's seat to win the North Division title. Kent also teamed with Emily Dalton to beat Stephanie Marek and Lauren Lathers 8-5 at No. 3 doubles. Kent also posted victories at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles on Sept. 27 in a 9-0 win over Beloit and a 6-3 victory over Monmouth.
