Women's Tennis
Beth Larson posted a 4-0 record on the week at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles as Lawrence won three of its four dual matches. A sophomore from Maplewood, Minn., Larson, who was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week, beat Knox's Megan Funk 6-0, 6-4, and teamed with Jennifer Roesch to beat Funk and Jordan Kuban 8-3. Lawrence beat the Prairie Fire 7-2 on Sept. 3. In a 7-2 win over Monmouth on Sept. 3, Larson beat Amy Unzicker 6-2, 6-3, and teamed with Roesch to beat Unzicker and Kimi Wegner 8-5. Larson was a bright spot in Lawrence's 6-3 loss to Loras on Sept. 5 as she accounted for two of the points. She beat Ale Ruales 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, and Larson and Roesch beat Ruales and Lindsay Dunkirk 8-4 in doubles. In a 5-4 victory over Dubuque on Sept. 5, Larson downed Hannah Scheidewend 6-3, 6-1, and teamed with Roesch to beat Scheidewend and Kristina Mc Wethy 8-3.
Sam Stevens
Men's Cross Country
In his collegiate debut, Sam Stevens ran to a fifth-place finish at the St. Norbert Invitational on Sept. 5. The freshman from Green Bay, Wis., covered the four-mile course in 21 minutes, 10 seconds. Paced by Stevens, Lawrence finished fifth in the 12-team field.
