Matt Frelich was chosen as the Midwest Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after turning in a big play in the game at St. Norbert on Sept. 19. The senior defensive end from Maribel, Wis. blocked a punt in the contest. This marked the first time in his career Frelich has been named a Midwest Conference Player of the Week, but he was chosen for the D3football.com national Team of the Week in 2006. It was the first blocked kick of the season and added to his career record, which now stands at six. Frelich finished the game against St. Norbert with five tackles, which led all Lawrence defensive linemen in the contest.
Jordan Holmes

Jordan Holmes was a key force on defense in a pair of Lawrence shutout victories and was named the Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The junior defender from Wayland, Mass., was part of the group that held Finlandia without a shot in a 10-0 Lawrence win on Sept. 19. The Vikings squeezed off 55 shots, including 33 in the first half, against the Lions. Holmes played some stellar individual defense against Edgewood on Sept. 20 in Lawrence's 4-0 victory. The Vikings limited the Eagles to just eight shots.
Mallory Koula
Women's Soccer
Mallory Koula picked up hat tricks in back-to-back games and was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week. In the Sept. 19 10-0 win over Finlandia, Koula scored the first goal of the match in the ninth minute. She made it 5-0 with a goal in the 20th minute and finished the scoring with another tally in the 59th minute. On Sept. 20 at Edgewood, Koula scored Lawrence's final three goals of the match in a 4-0 victory over the Eagles. Koula scored two goals in less than four minutes in the first half. She scored at 30:29 to make it 2-0 and then added another goal at 34:10 to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead. She secured the hat trick with a goal in the 86th minute. Koula has 10 goals and 22 points on the season and leads the Midwest Conference in both categories.
