For the second consecutive week, Lawrence had a defensive player return an interception for a touchdown. Senior Brian Janssen did it against Lake Forest on Oct. 10 when he stepped in front of a Geoff Sobey pass and returned it 11 yards for a touchdown that tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. The linebacker from Ashwaubenon, Wis., and his teammates harassed Sobey all day as Lawrence recorded six sacks. Janssen finished with five tackles, including 1.0 sacks and 1.5 tackles for loss. Janssen was part of the defensive unit that held Lake Forest to 2 yards rushing on 32 carries.

Mallory Koula
Women's Soccer

Mallory Koula scored four times and handed out an assist as Lawrence swept a pair of Midwest Conference matches, and she was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week. In Lawrence's 3-1 victory over Grinnell on Oct. 10, the sophomore forward from Kimberly, Wis., scored the goal that tied the game at 1-1 and then assisted on what proved to be the game-winning goal. It was Lawrence's first win over the Pioneers since the 2001 MWC Tournament semifinals. Koula then picked up her third hat trick of the season in a 4-0 victory over Knox on Oct. 11. Koula had a natural hat trick as she scored three consecutive goals in a span of 21 minutes in the first half.

Men's Soccer

Jared Padway picked up a pair of goals and an assist as Lawrence went 1-0-1 in a pair of Midwest Conference matches. The junior forward from Fox Point, Wis., scored the game's first goal in Lawrence's 1-1 overtime tie with Grinnell on Oct. 10. Padway then scored a goal just three minutes into the second half and assisted on Stephen Exarhos' goal just six minutes later to seal a 6-0 victory over Knox on Oct. 11.
