Erica Schmidt turned in her best performance of the season in the discus at the Midwest Conference Championships at Monmouth on May 13-14. The freshman from Maplewood, Minn., posted the best finish by the Vikings with a third place in the discus. Her throw of 123 feet, 1 inch, was her best of the season by nearly six feet. Her best throw to that point was 117-4 at the Carroll Invitational on April 9.
Sam Stevens
Track and Field
Sam Stevens had a hand in every point the Vikings scored at the Midwest Conference Championships at Monmouth on May 13-14. The sophomore from Suamico, Wis., grabbed second place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:35.06 and took third in the 1,500 in 4:04.55. Stevens also ran to seventh in the 800 in 1:57.87 and ran a leg on the 1,600 relay team, which placed eighth in 3:34.22.
