Jon Mays propelled Lawrence to a 2-0 start in Midwest Conference plays as the Vikings downed Illinois College and Lake Forest. The senior forward from Bloomington, Minn., averaged 24 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting a sparkling 64.5 percent from the floor and 54.5 percent from 3-point range. Mays was 20-for-31 from the floor, including 6-for-11 from beyond the 3-point line. Mays scored a career-high 26 points in Lawrence's 100-79 victory over Illinois College on Dec 3. He hit 11 of 18 shots from the floor, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc, picked up four rebounds, handed out three assists and had a steal against the Blueboys. Mays followed that with 22 points in Lawrence's 62-60 victory over Lake Forest on Dec. 4. He was 9 of 13 from the floor, including 4 of 7 from beyond the arc. Mays also chipped in with three rebounds and a pair of steals.
Chris Siebert

Chris Siebert hit a game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds against Lake Forest to cap a 2-0 weekend for Lawrence. The freshman guard from Baraboo, Wis., drained a 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left to lift the Vikings to a 62-60 victory over Lake Forest on Dec. 4. Siebert finished the game with eight points, five assists and one rebound. In a 100-79 win over Illinois College on Dec. 3, Siebert poured in 21 points, grabbed four rebounds and picked up three assists. In the two games, Siebert averaged 14.5 points and hit 11 of 18 shots from the floor, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range.
