Peter Emery
Hockey

Goaltender Peter Emery turned in a pair of great performances and was named the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Freshman of the Week. The freshman from Goleta, Calif., was in net for both of Lawrence’s victories at Northland. Emery made 29 saves in Lawrence's 3-0 victory on Jan. 27 to pick up his second shutout of the season. Emery followed that with 29 saves again on Jan. 28 in the Vikings' 3-2 win. On the weekend, Emery posted a .967 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average.

Sam Stevens
Indoor Track

Sam Stevens set a Lawrence record on his way to winning the 3,000 meters at the UW-Oshkosh Open on Jan. 27. The junior from Suamico, Wis., won the event in 8:50.83, which broke the school record that had stood since 1996. Stevens broke the record of Lawrence Hall of Famer Scott Sprtel, who set the mark of 8:53.58.

Taylor Winter
Swimming

Taylor Winter won one event and finished second in another to lead Lawrence to a third-place finish at the Wisconsin Private College Championships on Jan. 28. The freshman from Bayside, Wis., won the 1,650-yard freestyle in 18:08.06. She also finished second in the 500 freestyle in 5:16.42 and took fifth in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.25.
