Peter Brengel
Swimming

Peter Brengel won one title and had a second-place finish and was a key to the relay teams for Lawrence at the Midwest Conference Championships on Feb. 17-19 at Boldt Natatorium. The senior from Milwaukee, Wis., grabbed the crown in the 100-yard backstroke with a winning time of 53.25 seconds. Brengel also placed second in the 200 backstroke and fourth in the 50 freestyle. Brengel teamed with Walker Brengel, Pat Vincent and Charlie Mann to take third in the 200 freestyle relay. The 200 medley relay team of Brengel, David Dulak, Vincent and Mann also finished third. Brengel teamed with his brother, Walker, Mann and Nick Craker to grab fourth place in the 400 freestyle relay.

Hannah Gabriel
Swimming

Hannah Gabriel won one event and recorded a pair of second-place finishes for Lawrence at the Midwest Conference Championships on Feb. 17-19 at Boldt Natatorium. The sophomore from Elmhurst, Ill., swam to victory in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:56.71, just .16 seconds off the conference championship record of Lake Forest’s Becky Shaak. Gabriel also finished second in the 500 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Gabriel also teamed with Taylor Winter, Julia Heller and Chelsea Hameister to finish second in both the 400 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay.

Swimming

Taylor Winter won one championship and finished second in another event for Lawrence at the Midwest Conference Championships on Feb. 17-19 at Boldt Natatorium. The freshman from Bayside, Wis., won her first MWC individual title by swimming to victory in the 500 freestyle in 5:10.75. Winter also grabbed second in the 1,650 freestyle and swam to fourth place in the 200 freestyle. Winter also teamed with Hannah Gabriel, Julia Heller and Chelsea Hameister to finish second in both the 400 freestyle relay and 800 freestyle relay.
