Luke Barthelmess
Football
Luke Barthelmess broke a Midwest Conference record and two Lawrence records in Lawrence's 62-42 win at Knox on Sept. 10. The sophomore quarterback from Dow, Ill., completed 28 of 39 passes for a Lawrence and MWC record 549 yards. Barthelmess broke the MWC passing yards record of 532, set by Knox’s Bob Monroe in 1986, and the Lawrence record of 466, set by Bill McNamara in 1986. Barthelmess’ six touchdown passes also broke the Lawrence record of five, set by Eric Aspenson in 2007. Barthelmess also ran 18 times for 45 yards and two touchdowns. Barthelmess was named the MWC Offensive Player of the Week and was chosen for the Beyond Sports Network Team of the Week.
Clare Bohrer
Volleyball
Clare Bohrer was named to the all-tournament team at the UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic and helped Lawrence to a 3-2 record on the week. The senior middle hitter from Eau Claire, Wis., piled up 52 kills on the week and had a .159 hitting percentage. She also had 24 blocks, eight aces and 18 digs. Lawrence defeated Marian, Lakeland and Lake Forest during the week.
Beth Larson
Women's Tennis
Beth Larson was perfect on the week in singles and doubles as Lawrence posted a 3-0 record. The senior from Maplewood, Minn., lost only five games total in three matches at No. 1 singles as Lawrence defeated Dominican (Ill.) 9-0, Edgewood 9-0 and Lake Forest 8-1. Larson teamed with Jenni Roesch at No. 1 doubles and went 3-0, which included an 8-0 win over Dominican (Ill.).
Tyler Mazur
Football
Tyler Mazur caught eight passes for 220 yards and tied the school record with four touchdown catches in Lawrence's 62-42 victory at Knox on Sept. 10. The junior wide receiver/quarterback from Reedsburg, Wis., also ran for a score and broke the Lawrence record for touchdowns and points in a game. Mazur tied the record of four touchdown catches, which was set by Zach Michael vs. St. Norbert in 2003. Mazur grabbed a 92-yard touchdown pass, the fourth-longest pass play in Lawrence history, to give the Vikings the lead for good in the second quarter. He then added 72-yard touchdown catch early in the fourth quarter. He also had touchdown catches of four and 14 yards. Mazur's 220 receiving yards is the fourth-highest game total in school history. Mazur also ran three yards for a touchdown to give him a school-record five touchdowns on the afternoon. He broke the record of four, which was shared by four players. Mazur's 30 points broke the record of 25, which was set by Carl Stumpf against Ripon in 1953. Mazur was chosen for the D3football.com Team of the Week and the Beyond Sports Network Team of the Week.
Cody Robel
Football
Cody Robel tied a pair of Lawrence records with eight PATs in the Vikings' 62-42 victory at Knox on Sept. 10. The junior kicker from Appleton, Wis., was 8-for-8 on extra points and tied the school record for PAT attempts and conversions. Robel is now 9-for-9 on PATs this season. Robel was named the Midwest Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
