Charlie Mann
Men's Soccer

Charlie Mann scored the game-winning goal in Lawrence's 2-1 double-overtime victory over Grinnell on Sept. 24. The sophomore from Denver, Colo., broke a 1-1 tie with the golden goal in the 104th minute. Not only was it Mann's first goal of the season, it came on his first shot of the season. Mann headed a shot past Grinnell goalkeeper Ben Schemper on Cameron Pieper's corner kick at 103:20.

Shannon McLain
Volleyball

Shannon McLain piled up 59 kills and had a .274 hitting percentage as Lawrence went 3-1 on the week. In a 3-1 win over Carroll on Sept. 20, the junior outside hitter from Mukwonago, Wis., pounded out 20 kills and hit .319. She also added five digs and an ace. At the MSOE Quadrangular on Sept. 24, McLain helped Lawrence to a 2-1 record. She picked up 17 kills and hit .278 to go along with four digs and an ace in a 3-0 win over MSOE. McLain saw limited action in a 3-0 win over Finlandia but still managed nine kills, five aces, two blocks and two digs. She finished the week with 13 kills, four digs, one ace and one block in a 3-1 loss to Wisconsin Lutheran.

Sam Stevens
Cross Country

Sam Stevens was the top finisher among Midwest Conference competitors at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota on Sept. 24. The junior from Suamico, Wis., raced to 17th place in a field of 331 runners and covered the 8,000-meter course in 26:13.7. Led by Stevens, Lawrence was tops among the MWC teams in the meet. The Vikings finished 12th among the 32 teams and topped defending league champion Grinnell, which finished 15th.
