In Lawrence's only action of the week, Cassie Burke made 13 saves to lead the Vikings to a scoreless tie at Carroll on Oct. 1. The junior goalkeeper from Golden Valley, Minn., faced 19 shots from the Pioneers and was chosen as the Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week. It was the the second shutout of the season and the sixth of her career for Burke.
Dominique Dirden
Football
Dominique Dirden grabbed a career-high three touchdown passes in Lawrence's 54-44 loss to Illinois College on Oct. 1. The freshman wide receiver from Lancaster, Calif., finished the day with four catches for 45 yards. Dirden became only the second freshman in Lawrence football history to catch three touchdown passes in a game. The first player to do it was wide receiver Zach Michael back in 2000.
