Clare Bruning
Cross Country

Clare Bruning won her first collegiate title by running to first place at Lawrence's Gene Davis Invitational on Oct. 6. The freshman from Mondovi, Wis., covered the 6,000 meters in 23:29.40, which was nearly a minute faster than the second-place finisher. It was the fastest time of Bruning's career by nearly 51 seconds. Bruning led the Vikings to second place in the team standings with 39 points.

Curran Carlile
Cross Country

Curran Carlile won Lawrence's Gene Davis Invitational for the second time in his career on Oct. 6. The junior from Portland, Ore., raced to the victory on the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:25.40, which topped his previous season-best time by nearly 27 seconds. Led by Carlile, Lawrence won the team title with 23 points.

David Caprile
Men's Soccer

David Caprile was the leader of the defensive corps that led Lawrence to a 2-0-0 record on the week. The Vikings allowed a total of 12 shots in the two matches, a 2-1 victory over St. Norbert and a 1-0 shutout at Monmouth. Caprile, a senior from Evanston, Ill., was the key in allowing St. Norbert only three shots on goal and a total of two shots in the second half. Monmouth got only two shots on goal and a total of two shots in the second half. Lawrence picked up its third shutout of the season against Monmouth, and Lawrence's opponents haven't scored in the last 164:08.
