Matt Schoultz took over the Lawrence University volleyball program when he made the move across town in April 2006.
Schoultz, an Appleton native, brought a history of coaching success to Lawrence. He served as the girls' volleyball coach at Appleton's Xavier High School for 11 seasons from 1995-2005.
Schoultz compiled an impressive record of 294-141-64 during his tenure at Xavier. He won three Valley 8 Conference championships, taking the title in 2001, 2003, and 2005. His teams qualified for the WIAA State Tournament in 2001 and 2005.
Schoultz collected three major coaching honors while at Xavier. He was named Fox Valley Christian Conference Coach of the Year in 1997, won Post-Crescent All-Area Coach of the Year honors in 2001, and was chosen as Valley 8 Coach of the Year in 2005.
Schoultz is a 1986 graduate of Xavier and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1990.
Schoultz and his wife, Cecelia, have two sons, Terry and Michael.
