Pete is Reference Librarian at Lawrence University. WAAL activities include Professional Development Committee in 1993, and Conference Planning Committee co-chair in 1994. WLA activities include being Research Roundtable chair and Conference Local Arrangements chair in 1995, and member of the Library Development and Legislation Committee in 1996. Pete is current treasurer of the Fox Valley Library Council, former president of the Friends of the Appleton Public Library, and acts as coordinator of Lawrence University's campus-wide information system. Statement:

The great philosopher Yogi Berra once remarked that "you can observe a lot just by watching." In my years as a WAAL member I have watched some fine librarians in action and what I've observed is that WAAL is a strong organization because of those "librarians in action."

As academic librarians, we are constantly striving to provide the best service to our users, whether by digging through Poole's Index or by crawling the Web. WAAL will continue to support these efforts through its programs, local and statewide, and its publications, print and electronic.

And besides, WAAL is all kinds of fun. Come and join us.
