Local Arrangements 1995: Signs

The signs for the conference were crafted by the talented folk at Winnefox, particularly Renee and Joy. The signs were 8.5 x 14 inches and included the conference logo and a nice border.

Room Signs

The majority of signs are those for the rooms, which include: Like this:

or see the examples in the pile of paper.

Directional Signs

  • 2 signs that directed people to rooms that were not on the main floor
  • 2 signs that directed people to rooms that were not labelled on the map
  • 1 sign that designated the Conference Headquarters
  • 1 sign that designated the Registration Area
  • 3 signs that indicated which letters of the alphabet should register at which registration station (A-G, H-M, N-Z). These constantly changed.

  • Exhibit Area Signs

We had a bunch of signs made to designate WLA Conference Partners (those vendors who gave especially big bucks). They had the conference logo and a big star on them.

We also made signs to designate the Autograph Garden area and to tell when the World Famous Authors would be there to do their autographing. These were the same 8.5x14" signs, but I glued them onto blue poster board and set them on easels to make them more visible.

Several signs desginated the box lunch area and we had signs to indicate which Kind and Generous Vendor sponsored which breaktime refreshments.

    Misc. Signs and Comments

We had a number of "blanks" made -- signs with the logo and border, but no words. These were very valuable for last minute changes.

There was a slight problem with signs up overnight. There were other groups using the conference center in the evening, and in several cases they appropriated our signs, flipped them over and used them for their own Nefarious Messages. This would not necessarily have been a problem, except that we needed the signs for the next day and didn't have them.
