PROJECT GRANTS, COMMISSIONS, and PUBLICATIONS (Lawrence University)

•Chapter Author, Conducting Women’s Choirs (published by GIA), Debra Spurgeon, editor (October 2012).

Chapter 8 – “The Y Factor in an X Chromosome World”

•Co-authored a National Endowment for the Arts, “American Choral Masterpieces” matching grant.  Awarded $50,000 for a project which included an invitational choral festival culminating in a grand finale performance of five American choral masterpieces, a nationally recognized guest choral conductor (Charles Bruffy), a special performance by a nationally recognized choral ensemble (Cantus), a new SATB American choral commission (“Careless Carols”), an aspiring, young composers workshop, and an outreach tour to Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL, sharing literature focused on American choral masterpieces (February-April 2007).  Note:  Only six organizations were awarded this “American Choral Masterpieces” grant by the NEA (four professional choirs and two universities).
