Practices and Battles

Until further notice or under special instructions, K'lar practices and pick-up battles will be in the Rec Center.

Sundays - Practices

GOOD WEATHER, 4:30 - We'll meet on Main Hall Green and go until we're tired, an hour and a half passes, or there's not enough light to see, whichever comes first. We usually head for dinner at the Grill or Downer (regardless of what time we end) around 6 for some good old-fashioned socializing.

BAD WEATHER, 4:30 - Hardly anyone uses the Rec Center gym at this time on Sundays, so that's where we'll be. We'll take up a raquetball court if there's something else there, or may just call it off.

Mondays & Wednesdays - Pick-up Battles

GOOD WEATHER, 5:30 - You'll find us on MHG during the late spring, summer, and early fall months, weather permitting. If you don't see us there, see below.

BAD WEATHER, 5:30 - Usually the gym is open at this time, and Dagorhir can take up half or a quarter of the gym and not bother many. If you don't see us in the gym, we should be in one of the raquetball courts. This is also our practice location for the winter months.

NOTE: Non-LU students aren't allowed in the Rec Center without a 'student escort.' We'll be glad to do that for you. Just make sure you contact an officer before practice so we know to expect you, or knock on the gym doors and we'll come down to meet you at the front desk. If we're in a raquetball court, ask if you can go find us or ask the person behind the desk to do so for you.

Requirements
AGE: K'lar is based off of the Lawrence University campus in Appleton, WI, but our membership and practice attendance is not limited to Lawrence students. Anyone ages 16 to 40 may attend official DBGA events, but gatherings involving solely K'lar members open the invitation to anyone suitable for Dagorhir activity from ages 14 to 40.

WEAPONS: There are a number of weapons available for general realm member use. Fighters are allowed to bring their own provided they fall under DBGA restrictions, and these may be available to others at the discretion of the owner. If anyone borrows weapons that specifically belong to someone else, including the Realm weapons, they must treat them with respect. Remember you are responsible to chip in for breakage or serious wear on a weapon that does not belong to you.

ARMOR: Armor is not required for any of K'lar's events. In order to keep fights going longer than a few hits, fighters have the option of fighting as if they were wearing armor. Usually this rule should be a decision that satisfies all parties involved. If the fight has some with armor and some without, regular DBGA rules apply.

GARB: Garb is the term for clothing worn to Dagorhir events (costumes are worn on Halloween, Dagorhirrim wear garb). Like armor, garb is encouraged but not required for practice except on garbed practice days. These will be noted in emails and on the Events page. Minimum garb requirements are the same as set down by DBGA: earth-toned t-shirt and sweatpants.

Directions
Below is a map of the LU campus so you may find the Rec Center and Main Hall Green (the lawn in front of Main Hall, sometimes abbreviated as MHG). The Multi-purpose room in the Rec Center is on the 1st floor. To get there, check in at the Front Desk, then take a left down the hallway just beyond it. You'll be able to see it down the first short hallway on your right. If you plan on coming, please let one of our members or myself know. There may be last minute changes on time or place--or even cancellation--that would be crucial to know.
