Lucy Ann Seymour Parsons, founder and first principal

1848 In the beginning

Milwaukee Female Seminary, a precursor of Milwaukee-Downer College, is founded by Lucy Ann Seymour Parsons, a progressive educator from upstate New York who had followed her husband, a minister, to Milwaukee. Studies include "trigonometry, natural and mental philosophy, logic, Evidences of Christianity, and Butler's Analogy."
