The Elizabeth Richardson Award, was established in memory of this Milwaukee-Downer graduate by her friends and family.  Miss Richardson, '40, served in World War II as a member of the Red Cross in France, where she died in a plane crash.  The prize is awarded to women excelling in studio art and art history.

Studio Art, shared by two students this year:

Jennifer Sue Tortoritis, Omaha, Nebraska, for her commendable development in painting, outstanding organizational skills, and firm commitment and belief in her role as a future art educator.

Melissa Joy Kozlik, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in recognition of her superior academic and studio work and her outstanding use of interdisciplinary approaches to conceptual and material art concerns.

Art History:

Lyla Dinshaw Muncherjee, Bombay, India, in recognition of her scholarship as evidenced by her study of art historical emblems of masculinity and power within Nazi German art and contemporary advertising.
