UNSUNG SONGS

by John Koopman

It is the best of trades to make songs, and the second best to sing them.
---Hilaire Belloc

INTRODUCTION

This is a site for singers and song coaches, and I hope to interest you in some excellent art songs that I believe deserve your attention.

I don't recall ever hearing any of these songs performed in public, by either professionals or students (other than my own), and very few of them have ever been recorded. My judgement that they are deserving is totally subjective, and I can only hope you will investigate some of them and judge for yourself.

Considering the current uncertainties of the music publishing business, the best way to locate copies of any of this music may be with a search of the more prominent music libraries by way of the Internet.
