Dreams of Edvard Munch pays homage to the Norwegian painter. The variations (based on a chord progression) are given descriptive titles as in paintings. They are performed without pauses, in a fleeting manner, with the intent of undermining a sense of reality as in a cascading of dreams. Many of the variations are canons at the octave. The performance here includes only Dreamscape I, string quartet version. Dreamscape II remains unperformed.
